MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Lt. j.g. Caleb Settle, a graduate of the University of Kentucky, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to USS Alexandria, a fast-attack submarine homeported at Naval Base Point Loma, California.

As a submariner, Settle is part of a small percentage of Navy personnel continuing a 125-year tradition of service under the sea to help ensure Americans’ safety.

Settle, a native of Union, Kentucky, earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UK’s College of Engineering in 2019.

Settle joined the Navy four years ago.

“My grandfather and father were enlisted in the Navy, and my brother in the Army,” Settle said. “I joined the Navy for the Nuclear Power Program and to see the world.”
