LEXINGTON, KY. (Nov. 25, 2024) – The Valley View Ferry will be shutting down operations on Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. for one to two months for recertification and repairs. The ferry operates under United States Coast Guard regulations and the current Certificate of Inspection required for operations is expiring.

The ferry barge will be removed from the river and placed in dry dock where the USCG will complete an inspection, which is required every five years. The Valley View Ferry and the USCG are both committed to the safety and well-being of all the passengers and crew. While in dry dock, the ferry captains and crew, with assistance from contractors, will perform routine maintenance and needed repairs. All items noted by USCG inspectors will also be addresses.

Based on the ferry captain’s assessments, it is estimated that the ferry will be in dry dock for one to two months. The ferry may remain docked for longer due to weather or unexpected repairs. The ferry captains and crews will be working return the Ferry to service as soon as possible.

Progress updates and photos of the repairs will be posted at www.facebook.com/valleyviewferry
